After a beautiful day checking out Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore we drove up US 31 towards Mackinaw and St. Ignace. We got into Mackinaw City just as the sun was going down and saw that there were high winds warnings up on the Big Bridge. So we decided to find a place on the south side of the Straits for the night. That’s how we met Julie. Julie was working the night desk at Americas Best Value Inn here in Mackinaw City and she was awesome. I asked her how much a room would be. She rattled off a string of possible discounts as long as the local phone book. None of them applied. I showed her the price that Google gave us on my phone and she matched it. Somehow she figured out that we were on our honeymoon and she upgraded us to what we discovered was the “Fredrick of Hollywood” room. It is a better room for half the price of what we had the night before!

We are now getting ready to cross the Bridge and start heading west. The weather is a beautiful 80 with sun. Stay tuned for more.
